The legal framework of Timor-Leste is still under development and while a number of laws have been enacted which relate directly to the enjoyment of human rights standards and the guarantee of good governance, the legal framework remains with a number of gaps which will be gradually developed. Some of the main pieces of legislation related to human rights standards and good governance principles are:
- Law on Freedom of Assembly and Demonstration
- Law on Immigration and Asylum
- Law Against Domestic Violence
- Criminal Code
- Criminal Procedure Code
- Civil Code
- Labour Law
- Laws on basic, secondary and higher education
- Laws relating to the health system and hospitals
- Law on Water Supply for Public Consumption
- Administrative Procedure
All Timorese laws can be accessed in Portuguese and English at the Official Government Gazette
